Our
Story

सत्यमेव जयते

Our noble organization, Satyameva Jayate, emerged from the deep-seated inspiration of our respected founder, Dr. Satyanarayana Vaidyanathan Iyer. A highly educated man, blessed with the knowledge of philosophy and a strong understanding of our Indian ethos, Dr. Iyer found his life's calling in the wisdom of Gandhi Ji's teachings. Holding dear the words 'Satyameva Jayate' - truth alone triumphs, a guiding principle in his life, he envisioned an organization that would channel Gandhi Ji's teachings into positive societal change.

In his early days, during a simple, enlightening encounter with an aged disciple of Gandhi Ji in a small village in Tamil Nadu, our respected founder was deeply moved by the words of the old man, "Gandhi Ji might not be physically present, but his teachings are timeless. They are the light guiding us through the darkest tunnels." This heart-touching incident led Dr. Iyer to dedicate his life to illuminating the world with the light of Gandhi Ji's principles.

Satyameva Jayate was thus conceived in the year 2003, with the noble aim to uphold and advance Gandhi Ji's legacy, cultivating a society guided by truth, non-violence, and compassion. Since its humble beginnings, the organization has been making strides, both small and big, in the field of education, community development, and social justice.

Within the first two years of our journey, we launched the 'Gandhi Darshan Educational Program,' introducing Gandhi Ji's philosophy to more than 500 schools across India. Anecdotal accounts from participating teachers pointed towards noticeable improvements in students' attitude towards truthfulness, peace, and mutual respect. This initiative set a precedent, influencing several state education boards to integrate Gandhi Ji's values into their curriculum.

We have also embarked on a series of 'Ahimsa Dialogues' - a platform for individuals, communities, and policymakers to discuss, debate, and explore solutions to conflict, bias, and violence. This initiative has, so far, engaged over 10,000 participants, fostering a culture of peaceful coexistence and mutual respect.

In our pursuit of social justice, the 'Sarvodaya Initiative' is a shining beacon. We have partnered with over 100 NGOs across India to support marginalized communities, empowering them with tools for self-reliance and dignified living. Notably, our efforts in the Sunderbans region of West Bengal have led to the upliftment of over 2000 families, setting a glowing example of Gandhi Ji's principles in action.

Dr. Iyer’s dream of a world enlightened by Gandhi Ji's wisdom is being realized through Satyameva Jayate's endeavours. As we march forward, each stride takes us closer to a society rooted in truth, peace, and compassion, just as Bapu envisaged. It is not only a journey of one organization or one man, but a journey of collective humanity, walking towards a brighter and more harmonious future. We invite you to join us in this transformative journey.
